Perspective
Creative Brief
Perspective is a three part, 30 minute documentary film project looking at how communities are affected by mining activities in three African countries, Côte D’Ivoire, Ghana, and Nigeria.
The project explores the right to free prior and informed consent, grievance mechanisms, corporate social responsibility, the transparency of the contract phase, compensation, the environmental legacy, and economic impact, while focusing very pragmatically on the everyday struggle of West Africans living and working in communities impacted by extractive industries. In highlighting the challenges that arise in the shadow of industry, the project exposes the resilience of people whose lives have been impacted by mining – giving voice to their concerns and aspirations.
